Recommendations on where to stay in Goa

Zoe and her dad (Tony) recently did a little trip to Goa and were able to find some information regarding available accommodation options so we are hoping that we have some information that will be useful to you. Please note that due to the number of guests attending the wedding we will unfortunately be unable to book domestic flights for you or personally arrange your accommodation. It is also advised that you book your travel and accommodation plans as far in advance as possible due to the number of guests attending the wedding. Happy searching!

Areas which are closest to the venue:

The reception will be held at the Royal Orchid Beach Resort & Spa in Utorda, Goa. The best beaches to search for accommodation would be the following:

Utorda
Benaulim
Colva
Majorda

Suggested accommodation options:

Please note this option is only available if your stay is for one week or more

Hiring a Villa in Goa

Contact Details: Lancaster
info@safespecialservices.com

Lancaster provides villas for groups that want to stay together. He's a hard bargainer and on the money but delivers what he promises. The above rates are standard for a clean, furnished room so if he's asking you to pay more for a completely empty room and tells you 15 people can share one apartment (like he told us) then you're probably getting ripped off. Enquire about accommodation through him especially if you're traveling with a few others. Or you can go camping style and just get an empty villa and bring a sleeping bag!! (Fun!)

Travelling on a budget:

There is accommodation to suite every budget in Goa so if some of the recommendations above our out of your price range, dont worry there is plenty to choose from. Obviously it is difficult to name all the hotels and hostels in the area but here are some websites that are really helpful as you can read the reviews and make your decision from there but please note again that it is really important to book in advance as December is peak season and places often get booked out.

Useful websites for searching for accommodation:

Tripadvisor - Hotels in Goa

Hostelworld - for hotels and budget accommodation

Hostel Bookers - for hotels and budget acommodation

Make My Trip - Local Indian Travel Website

Yatra - Local Indian Travel Website

Lonely Planet - Travel Guide Information on Goa

(Please note that Indian based websites usually only accept Indian Credit / Debit cards and therefore International travellers are unable to book on these sites, if you are an international traveller these sites could still be useful to find out particular information or accommodation options which could then be booked on other sites or direct with the hotel)

Getting around in Goa:

One of the best (and the most fun!!) ways to get around in Goa is by scooter, if you are interested in this option please let us know by the 16th September as the rate will be determined by the number of people booking.

Domestic Flights and travel bookings in India:

Most of the Indian travel websites will only accept Indian credit / debit cards and it can at times be a pain to try and arrange all your travel in India. In order to help you we can highly recommend Tony's travel agent Sanjay Gulati who would be happy to help with any travel needs within India. I have provided his contact details below, Tony has informed him that International guests will be contacting him so if you quote the name 'Tony Johnson' he will know who you are.
